Montana Pulse Crop Committee Request for Proposals (RFP)

Welcome to the Montana Pulse Crop Committee's RFP page. Here, you will find information about funding opportunities available through the Pulse Crop Market Development Program, overseen by the Montana Department of Agriculture and determined by the Montana Pulse Crop Committee . Our mission is to improve the return on investment for Montana farmers through strategic funding initiatives.

Funding Goals

The Montana Pulse Crop Committee is dedicated to enhancing the pulse crop industry through a variety of funding opportunities. The committee has set specific goals for the allocation of its annual budget to maximize impact:

  1. Market Development: Allocate 25-30% of the annual budget to initiatives aimed at expanding both domestic and international markets for pulse crops. These projects are crucial in increasing market access and consumer demand for Montana pulse products.
  2. Communication & Education: Dedicate 20% of the annual budget to communication and educational efforts. These funds support industry and producer education, facilitating better communication and understanding within the pulse crop sector.
  3. Innovation and Development: Reserve 35% of the annual budget for projects that foster innovation, agronomic and economic development, and product development. This allocation aims to support new technologies, new practices that can lead to more efficiency and advancement in research.  *Please note research specific projects are determined by the USADPLC RFP, please see information below.  

Proposal Submission

The Montana Pulse Crop Committee welcomes proposals for market development and educational initiatives. We encourage submissions that align with our mission and demonstrate potential for significant impact in the pulse crop sector.

Application Process

To submit a proposal, applicants should follow these steps:

  1. Review Guidelines: Carefully review the funding guidelines to ensure your project aligns with the committee's goals and priorities.
  2. Prepare Proposal: Develop a detailed proposal outlining the scope, objectives, and expected outcomes of your project.

Proposals must be submitted through The WebGrants system.

  1. Submit Application: Complete the online application form and submit your proposal by the specified deadline.

USA Dry Pea & Lentil Request for Proposals for Research Specific Projects

The U.S.A. pulse crop industry is dedicated to robust scientific research to continue to advance dry peas, lentils, chickpeas, and dry beans. Research directed towards enhancing the development of pulses provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate how their increased use and consumption and positively impacts agricultural systems, the food industry, and public health. *Research funding will be available through the US Dry Pea & Lentil Council (USADPLC).
